We’re so excited for your first visit to our practice, and we hope you and your little one are too! To streamline their first appointment, families are welcome to fill out their new patient forms at home prior to coming to see us. If you’d prefer to fill them out in our office, please plan to arrive an additional 10-15 minutes early to have adequate time to do so.
If your child has dental insurance, please bring their insurance card with you as well. If your child has X-rays or documentation from another practice that we need, please have them send this to us before your child’s first visit as well. We’ll see you soon!

When should I make my child’s appointment?
We recommend scheduling your child’s first dental appointment by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth coming in. Early visits help kids get comfortable with our practice and allow us to monitor their growth and development. After that, regular checkups every six months help prevent cavities and catch issues early.
In general, we often recommend that young children visit us in the morning when they tend to be fresher and more cooperative, while older kids may prefer to see us in the afternoon or after school. If your child is experiencing pain, injury, or another concern, we encourage you to reach out to our team to schedule an additional visit.

How can I help my child stay calm during their appointment?
To help your child feel calm during their appointment, we recommend speaking positively about dental care and explaining what they can expect in simple terms. On the day of the visit, your kiddo is welcome to bring along a comfort item like a favorite toy or blanket. Adding dental-related books, toys, and games to their play area at home can also help dentistry feel more familiar and less foreign. Finally, your child may benefit from taking a quick tour of our office and meeting our staff prior to their first appointment, which you are welcome to do!

My child has special needs, what should I do before their first visit?
We’re here to make your child’s first visit as smooth and comfortable as possible. Please let us know about their medical history, sensory preferences, or any accommodations they may need when scheduling their appointment. We’re happy to spend extra time explaining our processes or schedule a longer visit to give them extra time to adjust. Our team is trained to provide gentle, patient-centered care tailored to each child’s unique needs and abilities.
